Chow Chow Mix    Age: Adult

This handsome boy is 5 year old Rocky (Brown). Rocky is a beautiful mix of, what we believe to be, a Chow Chow and English Mastiff and possibly a few other things sprinkled in. But all that doesn't really matter. What matters is the fact that this guy recently lost his owner and didn't have any other family members interested in keeping him, which is how he ended up in a shelter. Because his future was not looking bright, Rocky was transferred here to Wild Dog Rescue. If you are looking for a faithful companion, look no further. Rocky is a very smart boy and knows more than just the basics. He enjoys cuddles and car rides. He would love to ... Siberian Husky Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

MEET SKYE-7 year old male Husky/Shepherd Mix We have been waiting a long time to share Skye's story. Skye came to Wild Dog Rescue nearly 4 years ago. He came to us with his mate, Karma, from the Chicago area. There they were found living near a dumpster at a horse race track, a common dumping grounds for animals. Skye and Karma were inseparable at the time, however, Karma's life was cut short due to bone cancer, and Skye has been lost since. The only security he knew was gone. He didn't trust us and was very unsure about other dogs. It has taken time and a lot of patience, but Skye has found that we aren't such bad people after all. And he ... (Read More)has even made several 4 legged friends along the way. We believe that with the right person, a lot of love and even more patience, Skye will make a great companion. He loves toys and we can even take him on walks now. He will require a fenced in yard, one at least 5 feet high. And he will not be able to go to a family with children. He will need to be in a house, so no apartments or condos for this boy. Skye is very picky and choosey about his 4 legged friends. He seems to prefer females over males, but even then, he is picky. If we could find the right match, another dog would serve as a security blanket for him and help him adjust to being a companion. Adopting Skye will take time, and probably several visits. Your opinion of this handsome guy cannot be properly formed with just one visit. He is a special guy with a sweet sweet soul. Please remember, from what we know, he has never known the love and acceptance of a human before coming here to WDR. He needs time. What he doesn't need is to spend the rest of his life in a kennel, not knowing what a dog's life should really be like. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-06-00156Woody (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Senior

Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Woody. This sweet 12 year old boxer/lab mix has lived his entire life at the end of a chain and now is seeking a special retirement home after his owner was placed in a nursing home. There is nothing about Woody that would make you believe he is 12 years old, he is happy and still full of spunk. When we decided to take Woody in at WDR, we did have a few concerns. Will someone be willing to open their hearts and home to an old guy who has never known the comforts of a warm and cozy bed on a frigid Michigan winter night? Will there be the perfect family with enough patience to help this sweet senior enjoy his last few years? And our ... (Read More)biggest concern was recently confirmed, will he be heart worm positive after living outdoors all these years? Woody IS heart worm positive, so now the hunt begins for an even more special family. Woody will undergo treatment, but will need a family that is willing to help him during that recovery time. Finding a home for Woody is URGENT to say the least. He is not doing well in the kennel environment and needs a place and family to call his own. Can you or someone you know find it in their hearts to help this sweet sweet senior? Please consider giving Woody the love, patience and comforts he has never known, but like all dogs, deserves! Animal ID: 1107Wolfie (male)

German Shepherd    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current

This handsome guy has had a rough go of things in his life. Wolfie is an older German Shepherd, who found himself in the pound after being picked up as a stray. We are not sure of an exact age due to his great dental hygiene, but obviously older body. It is obvious that he has lacked a lot of basic care, he is missing fur and is a bit on the skinny side. Wolfie is already on the road to recovery and can't wait to get into a home of his own where he will be loved and cared for. He loves people, but will do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. He will need a family with GSD experience and the patience to help this young guy reach his ... (Read More)full potential. Wolfie does know a few basic commands, such as sit, shake and down.
